Jersey Lomellina launches JL Respiro recyclable fabric

06/09/2006

Italian textile company Jersey Lomellina has launched JL Respiro, a light, breathable and environmentally-friendly fabric. Produced from an ecological microfibre, the fabric is 100% recyclable and  can be reused and reintegrated into the production cycle.

Created with special microfibre Dryarn polypropylene (made by Italian synthetic fibres, polymers and chemicals company Aquafil), less energy and raw material is used in the production process and lower toxic emissions of CO2, CH4, N2O, HFC, PFC, and SF6 are released into the environment, thereby reducing the impact on global warming.

The fabric is hypo-allergenic and bacteriostatic, protecting the body by preventing the growth of harmful micro-organisms without destroying bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis, which produces and protects the skins’ natural pH.

Insulating and breathable, JL Respiro is said to provide a light yet impenetrable barrier against even the most extreme situations. It can help to prevent skin irritation and allergies, as well as the attack micro-organisms that cause bad odours.

Even during prolonged physical activity, the fabric is said to help to maintain a constant body temperature by wicking moisture away, and preventing muscular pain caused by thermal change.

Comfortable, ergonomic and elastic, JL Respiro is said to be suitable for athletic wear. It is also said to be resistant to abrasions, tears, and fading as well as being easy to clean.
