American sportswear designer Cutter & Buck Inc. has posted net sales of $35 million in the first quarter ended July 31, an increase of 17.6% compared with the same period in 2005.

First quarter sales in the corporate sales business unit were $15.2 million, a 10.8% increase over the same period in the prior year. Golf sales were $8 million during the first quarter, a 1.1% increase over the same period in the prior year. Specialty Retail sales of $6.9 million increased approximately $1.5 million, or 26.5%, during the first quarter compared with the same period in 2005.

Net income for the first quarter was $2 million compared with $2.1 million in the corresponding period last year.
