The Grand Opening Ceremony for the $18 million manufacturing facility for Stahl Coatings and Fine Chemicals (
Suzhou) Co. Ltd. took place on September 8, straight after the ALCE show in Shanghai. 500 guests from China and South East Asia were invited.

The facility is to serve the leather and coatings industry world-wide.

A series of short speeches were given including speeches from vice chairman of the China Leather Industries Association Madam Zhang Shu Hua, general manager of Stahl Coatings and Fine Chemicals, Suzhou, Alfredo Aymami and consulate general of The Netherlands Mr Jan Van Weijen.

All visitors were given guided tours of the factory and were able to view a mini exhibition showcasing the products and services that will be provided by the Suzhou plant.

Stahl plans to produce some 17,000 tonnes of product per year from the new plant, initially including acrylics, pigments and lacquer emulsions for the leather and shoe industries and surface coatings for the flexible substrate industry.
