The GEL-Cardio helps protect against foot injuries to which diabetics are specifically prone and has been created for type II diabetes sufferers.

To prevent the development of blisters or other foot problems the shoe incorporates a long vamp design, hard insole board, soft sockliner and a lining that reduces compression and friction. To help reduce the risk of infection, the sockliner has an anti-bacterial surface to help control humidity. The hard insole board and ortholyte sockliner reduce the load on lower limbs.

The shoe includes the SpEVA midsole, with a DuoMax and AHAR outsole to enhance easy motion.
