Lanxess relaunches Vulkanox DPPD

21/09/2006

German chemicals group Lanxess has relaunched production of its rubber antioxidant Vulkanox DPPD (N,N´-diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine). Commercial volumes will become available again during the fourth quarter 2006. The product is manufactured at the company’s Isithebe site,
South Africa, and distributed world-wide from there.

Vulkanox DPPD is used in the rubber sector as an antioxidant and is a more effective antiozonant than its chemical counterpart Vulkanox 3100. It is used as a stabiliser in elastomer manufacture and as an inhibitor in monomers for avoiding undesirable polymerisation reactions.
