Lanxess raises prices

05/10/2006

With immediate effect, Germany-based Lanxess chemicals group has increased its prices for ion exchange resins, technical rubber and ABS plastics. The company stated that these price rises are necessary due to the continued high cost of raw materials and the increase in energy and transport expenditure.

The Ion Exchange Resins business unit has increased its prices worldwide for the Lewatit and Ionac product groups by 5-7%, depending on the energy and raw material requirements in the manufacture of the grade concerned. These products are mainly used in industrial water treatment, consumer applications, catalysis and chemical processes.

The company’s Technical Rubber Products (TRP) business unit has increased its prices for the product groups Baypren (CR), Buna EP (EPDM), Krynac/Perbunan/Baymod N (NBR) and Krylene/Krynol (E-SBR). The price increase is between €50-€400 per metric ton, depending on the product group. The areas affected are Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. These products are mainly used in the automotive, mechanical engineering, construction, electrical and footwear industries.
