Dow Corning to present new technology at AATCC’s IC&E

Supplier of silicone solutions for the textile industry Dow Corning Corporation is to present its new, impact protection technology—the Dow Corning Active Protection System—at AATCC’s 2006 International Conference & Exhibition in
Atlanta, Georgia.

The presentation, entitled ‘How Silicon-based Technology Provides Defence and Comfort to High-Performance Apparel’, is scheduled for 11 am, November 1. Global technical leader for fabric finishing/senior applications engineer for textiles in North America, Fernando Vazquez, will be presenting for Dow Corning. He said, “The newly developed Dow Corning Active Protection System offers superior defence and comfort using patented technology to create impact protection textiles that are particularly suitable for high-performance apparel.” He added, “It is a highly effective system that is fully flexible and breathable while providing excellent protection from high-impact force.”

The presentation will review the development and testing of the Active Protection System, its use in motorcycle garments and its potential applications within the textile industry. Mr Vazquez will share Active Protection System performance data demonstrating the textile’s superior protective strength over hard armour when used in motorcycle garments.
