Dow Corning to present at SGMA sports technology meeting
The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) has invited supplier of silicone solutions for the leather and textile industries Dow Corning Corporation to present at its first Sports and Technology Convergence. The event, designed to connect sporting good manufacturers with new technology, will take place October 24-26 in
Dow Corning’s major market strategy leader for fashion textiles, leather and industrial textiles Shane Ladwein will discuss new developments in fabric technology: an area where sports and science converge to offer new opportunities to sportswear manufacturers and marketers.
He will speak about the Dow Corning Active Protection System for creating ‘intelligent’ textiles that provide both impact protection and comfort. The material remains soft, breathable and flexible under normal conditions, but hardens instantly upon impact. When the impact force is removed, the fabric immediately returns to a flexible state. Independent testing shows that this versatile material outperforms typical hard armour systems.
