ITG and Safety Components International complete merger

The merger of US-based International Textile Group, Inc. (ITG) and Safety Components International, Inc. has been completed.

The company formerly known as Safety Components has been renamed International Textile Group, Inc. and will continue to operate as a public company.

The new group operates five primary business units: Safety Textiles International, Cone Denim, Burlington WorldWide (apparel fabrics), Burlington House (interior fabrics) and Carlisle Finishing. On a combined basis, net sales would have been $997.7 million for the year ended December 31, 2005. The company employs over 9,000 people worldwide with operations in the United States, Mexico, China, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic, South Africa, Nicaragua and Vietnam.

President & CEO of International Textile Group Joseph Gorga will continue to serve in that role for the newly combined company. Stephen Duerk, who served as president of Safety Components International, Inc., will serve as president of the Safety Textiles International business unit.
