Payless and Exeter launch new women's athletic shoes line

US companies Payless ShoeSource and Exeter Brands Group, a wholly- owned subsidiary of Nike, have teamed up to launch a new brand of women's athletic shoes, Tailwind, which is said to combine contemporary fashion appeal with technical performance.

The agreement is a multi-year deal, with Exeter designing and producing the styles, Exeter and Payless jointly launching the brand, and Payless serving as the exclusive retailer.

Tailwind will launch with six styles featuring cushioning gel and support technologies designed by Exeter in collaboration with the Nike sports research laboratory. The brand will be available from spring 2007.
