Commenting on the transaction, Philippe Raynaud de Fitte, business vice president, chlor-vinyl and VAM at Dow, said that operations at the Cabo facility do not fit with Dow’s model of integrated production–where raw material supply, manufacturing facilities and downstream derivative demand are all accessible and provide competitive advantage.
Under the terms of the transaction, employees of the Cabo facility, along with equipment and site-specific assets, will transfer to the JB Group. Following the completion of the transaction, Dow will continue to serve as the local distributor of VAM from the Cabo plant.
VAM is a key ingredient in emulsion polymers, resins, and intermediates used in products such as adhesives, coatings, textiles, and acrylic fibres.
