27/11/2006

Gap Inc. has released its latest factory inspection and performance data as part of its social responsibility commitment.

The data includes the most recent results of the company’s inspections in the factories that make its clothes, including data on factory approvals and terminations. It states that the company’s team of vendor compliance officers conducted 4,438 factory inspections in 2118 garment factories around the world in 2005, accounting for 98.7% of all garment factories approved for Gap Inc. production.

During this time it terminated business with 62 factories, or about 2.9%, of the company’s approved base for violations of its code of vendor conduct.

Gap issues social responsibility reports biannually, with the next scheduled for release in 2007.
