Strong fourth quarter results for Gildan

Canada-based Gildan Activewear Inc. has reported fourth quarter net earnings before restructuring and other charges of $36.8 million, up 25.6% from $29.3 million in the comparable quarter last year. Sales in the fourth quarter reached $235.2 million, up 30.2% from $180.7 million.
Sales for the 2006 fiscal year totalled $773.2 million, up 18.2% from the previous year, and net earnings amounted to $106.8 million—a 24.2% increase on the $86 million reported in 2005.
