India-based textile company Spentex Industries Limited has acquired the fixed assets of Farg'ona Ip-Gazlama Ishlab Chiqarish in Uzbekistan to set up a processing project through its Dutch subsidiary in collaboration with British Millerain, UK.
The process house at the Mergalan factory in Uzbekistan will produce dye- finished fabric for use in workwear, outdoor fabrics, military use, uniforms, industrial fabrics and home furnishing fabrics.
Advantages of the new unit include its proximity to the Eastern European market and the low cost of operations. It will have the capacity to dye 30,000 metres of fabric per day, with the potential for even greater production in the future.
Spentex already has two plants in Uzbekistan, with a workforce of more than 3,500, and a further six facilities in India. It has a total production capacity of 350,000 spindles in India and 220,000 spindles in Uzbekistan along with 236 air-jet weaving looms. It recently expanded its Baramati and Sholapur plants.
