Tablas kitesurfing chooses Bayer aliphatic TPU films

Swedish kitesurfing champion Christian Dittrich, who manufactures kiteboards through his company Tablas Boards, is using decorative films for the boards made of an aliphatic variant of the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), Desmopan, from Bayer MaterialScience. The films, which are manufactured for
Tablas by Finnish sports equipment makers Exel, are lightfast and scratchproof.

Mr Dittrich, who recently won the ‘Most Technical Kiteloop’ category at this year’s kite event at Laboe, said that unlike aromatic TPU films, the Bayer product doesn’t turn yellow even after long exposure to the sun. Furthermore, because aliphatic TPU is lightfast, an additional UV protective coating is not required, thus reducing production costs.
