43 new Gore-Tex styles and new Thermatek at Arc’teryx

05/01/2007

Canadian clothing specialist Arc’teryx has launched a new Gore-Tex hardshell collection as part of its winter 2007/2008 range, including 43 Pro Shell jackets.

Most of these are partly or entirely manufactured from Pro Shell laminates, which also feature Gore’s new Micro Grid Backer Technology and a dense exterior fabric for stronger protection against water and abrasion.

New material ThermaTek, consisting of a permanently water-repelling hollow-fibre fleece material, laminated onto a 30-denier HT polyamide-fabric, with a DWR-Finish, is used as the basis for the company’s Dually Belay Jacket, for which the laminate is used both for the exterior and the feed. The unit is especially designed for to keep climbers warm whilst hanging at belay stations or waiting in the bivy.
