Christmas boosts apparel sales at Marks and Spencer

UK-based retailer Marks and Spencer has reported improved apparel sales for the thirteen weeks, ended December 30.

Clothing sales increased by 9.2% compared with the company’s second quarter figures, which had increased by 9.3% compared with the previous quarter.

The company described its third quarter performance as strong, despite a slower run up in the pre-Christmas period. Its market share for clothing grew to 10.5% during the quarter.
