TrapTek to handle Cocona sales directly through new offices

16/01/2007

US-based developer of polymer and film processes TrapTek, LLC has changed its business model for Cocona fabrics and will now handle the management and sales of the brand directly. As a result of this change TrapTek will certify each supplier, every Cocona fabric and each garment model made with Cocona fabric. It will also ensure that there is a consistency in the branding of its Natural Technology. “After spending years and years developing our Natural Technology, it is critical that we ensure that all product reaching the consumer meets our standards for construction and performance,” said Brad Poorman, president of TrapTek.

The decision to manage its Cocona products and sales directly has been made possible with the addition of new TrapTek offices in Hong Kong to cover Asia and in Zurich to cover the European market.

TrapTek has launched a series of Cocona coatings, fibres, yarns, and fabrics that are produced using activated carbon from coconut shells. The new environmentally-sound technology permanently embeds activated carbon particles in materials to provide an evaporative cooling effect whilst also capturing odours and UV in its varied pore structure. Over 24 brands have launched Cocona products or will do so during the next twelve months.
