US retailer of branded apparel Burlington Coat Factory has posted higher sales for the second quarter ended December 2. Net sales increased 4.2% to reach $39.4 million, whilst comparative store sales decreased 2.4% during the quarter. Although comparative store sales increased 5% in September, they decreased 1.3% in October and decreased 8.8% in November compared with the same months last year. The decrease has been primarily attributed to unseasonably warm weather in certain regions of the United States.
The company currently has a store base of 373 stores in 44 US states, and offers merchandise including ladies sportswear, menswear, coats, and family footwear.
