Rapid progress in restoring staple fibre production at Trevira plant

19/01/2007

Trevira’s programme to restore production at its fibre spinning plant in Bobingen, Germany, which caught fire on December 30, is progressing well. Eight of the 14 machines have been operational since January 2, and the company is confident that full production will resume at the plant in March.

An inspection confirmed that the fire had been started by a cable catching fire. The damage will cost several million euros to repair.

A temporary agreement with the works council has been put in place to deal with arrangements for reduced manning levels.
