Several local and
foreign sports companies have decided to expand their sales networks in Argentina. Companies that have committed to expansion in the South American country include Reebok, Nike, Merrell, Diadora, Fila, LeCoq Sportif, Puma, adidas, and domestic brand Topper.

The sports footwear and apparel business is currently thriving in Argentina. The sector produces annual revenues of approximately $1,500 million (US$484 million)—the equivalent of 15 million pairs of trainers. This amount is expected to increase 20% in 2007.

Reports indicate that 75 shops from various brands in the sector opened across the country in 2006. Diadora has revealed plans to open two own-brand shops in two of the country's main shopping centres while Reebok plans to inaugurate three shops in Buenos Aires

Argentinean brand Topper, created by Alpargatas, will be adding two new shops to its existing 27, one in Córdoba and another one in Rosario. So far the brand has two concept stores in Buenos Aires, six image and design shops and 19 discount stores.

The sports apparel business in Argentina is shared by 30 premium labels including Nike, adidas, Reebok and Puma. The other 50% of the market is divided between domestic labels and brands which produce more affordable goods in Argentina and import high-end finished products.
