Rottefella to launch new telemark binding at OR

22/01/2007

Norway-based Rottefella will debut its new NTN binding in
North America at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and the Outdoor Retailer Backcountry Base Camp.
Developed through a cooperative project between Rottefella and boot brands Scarpa and Crispi, the binding is said to feature superior lateral stability and increased control through improved edge pressure and Rottefella's new spring technology, resulting in better telemark and alpine turns.

The front operated binding is semi step-in for easy on and off functionality. It is also releasable, although it is currently not in accordance with industry standards. It can also be moved forwards or backwards on the ski, depending on the individual skier’s preference and has a free pivot mode which reduces forward flex resistance for improved stride and touring.

"After many years of development, we are extremely excited to finally introduce this new binding technology to the market," said Rottefella’s president Ulf Bjerknes. "We do not only have a fantastic binding, we also have several more models under development, with a clear goal of creating a family of NTN bindings in the future."

"We believe the NTN binding helps redefine the future of telemark skiing and that it is a major step in the evolution and future of our sport," added Kim Miller, CEO of Scarpa North America.
