Higher sports and outerwear sales at Columbia Sportswear
Portland-based outdoor apparel and footwear company Columbia Sportswear Company has posted a 15.2% increase in net sales for its fourth quarter ended December 31. Sales totalled $361.8 million compared with $314.1 million for the same period of 2005. Net income was $38.4 million, a 4.9% increase compared with $36.6 million for the 2005 quarter.
Outerwear sales increased 22.3% to $180.3 million, sportswear sales increased by 20.6% to $108.5 million, equipment sales increased by 150% to $3 million, accessories sales improved by 11.5% to reach $13.6 million. Meanwhile, footwear sales decreased 10.9%.
For the full year, the company reported net sales of $1,287.7 million, an increase of 11.4% over $1,155.8 million for 2005. Net income was $123 million, a 5.9% decrease compared with net income of $130.7 million for 2005. Sportswear sales for the year increased by 13.1% to $509.1 million, outerwear sales increased by 12.8% to $496.5 million, equipment sales increased by 116.5% to $19.7 million, and footwear sales increased by 4% to $219.7 million. Accessories sales decreased by 5.5% to $42.7 million compared with 2005.
