Dow Corning to appear at the Super Bowl

30/01/2007

Supplier of silicone solutions for the leather and textile industries Dow Corning Corporation has been invited to present its new impact protection technology at this year’s Super Bowl in Miami, on February 2.

The event will host over 3,000 representatives from the sports industry including team owners, athletes, coaches and consumer goods executives.

The company will promote its Active Protection System, a ‘smart’ fabric treated with a silicone coating. The material remains soft, breathable and flexible under normal conditions, but hardens instantly upon impact. When the impact force is removed, the fabric immediately returns to a flexible state.

It is also breathable and flexible for added comfort and freedom of movement and can be stitched directly into garments, making it less likely to shift under impact.

Finland-based manufacturer of sports apparel Rukka launched the first commercially available product to use the fabrica motorcycle riding suitlast October.
