New brands, areas and events at ASR

Next season's styles from over 500 surf, skate, snow, moto, lifestyle and youth culture brands were showcased at Action Sports Retailer Expo (ASR) in San Diego, held on January 25-27, which was attended by over 18,000 visitors.

A new Board Builder's Pavilion, dedicated to the surf hard goods, hosted 20 surfboard shapers and surfboard material producers. The Reef Board Build-Off attracted thousands of attendees to the Pavilion to bid on collectable boards built specifically to be auctioned off for charity. The auction raised over $20,000 for charities of each shaper's choice, with Rich Pavel's board going for the high bid of $3,700.  
Green Steps environmental initiatives at ASR included a fully wind energy powered event and expanded recycling efforts. New lines of sustainable and organic products for autumn 2007 were also part of the initiative.

The Goldbox Mission offered a section of new, up-and-coming brands including art-driven, lifestyle brands allowing unknown companies to present their products to action sports specialty retailers.
