European sales boost Polo Ralph Lauren results

Luxury lifestyle products producer Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation has posted a net income totalling $111 million for its third quarter, 22% higher than the $91 million reported in the prior year period. Wholesale sales increased 18% to $536 million compared with $454 million.

Excluding the effect of the Polo Jeans acquisition, revenues increased 5%, thanks to increased sales in Europe and domestic sales gains in Lauren and Chaps for women and children.

Net revenues for the quarter increased 15% to $1.14 billion compared with $996 million in the prior year period. Excluding the impact of the Polo Jeans acquisition, net revenues increased by 10%.

For the first nine months, net income increased 33% to $328 million from $246 million in the same period last year and net revenues increased 18% to $3.26 billion from $2.77 billion. Excluding the impact of the Polo Jeans and footwear acquisitions, net revenues increased 12%. Wholesale sales were up 23% to $1.69 billion compared with $1.37 billion. Excluding the effect of the Polo Jeans and footwear acquisitions, revenues increased by 11%, primarily through increased sales in Europe as well as domestic sales gains in Lauren and Chaps for women and children as well as in the men's business.
