Oakley reports record annual sales

Apparel and sunglasses company Oakley, Inc. has posted record net sales of $761.9 million for the full year ended December 31, an increase of 17.5% from the $648.1 million reported in the prior year. 2006 net income was $44.8 million including footwear restructuring charges of $2 million net.

The improved results were attributed to a greater focus on optics, enhanced brand development, restructured footwear, and the realignment of apparel and expansion of retail platforms.

2006 net optics sales totalled $552.9 million, up 18.9% from $465.1 million in the prior year. Net sales of apparel, footwear and accessories were up 5.6% to $156.7 million from $148.5 million in the prior year.

Total 2006 global wholesale net sales were $590.6 million, an 11.7% increase from $528.9 million in 2005.
