US-based jeans and casual wear manufacturer Levi Strauss & Co. has reported improved net income for its fourth quarter and fiscal year, ended November 26.

Fourth quarter net revenues increased 4%, or $48 million, whilst net income increased 119%, or $52 million.

Fiscal year 2006 saw a slight decline in revenues, totalling $4.19 billion compared with $4.22 billion in 2005. This was said to reflect higher net revenues in the US Levi’s US Dockers and Asia Pacific businesses, which were offset by lower net revenues in Europe and in the US Levi Strauss Signature businesses. Net income improved 53%, or $83 million, for the full year to reach $239 million compared with $156 million.
