Puma sales climb

German sportswear brand Puma AG has reported improved sales for 2006.

Worldwide brand sales climbed 16% to reach €2.8 billion in the financial year, whilst consolidated sales surpassed the €2 billion mark for the first time. Operating profit reached €366 million, exceeding expectations.

According to product segments, footwear posted a 1.6% decrease, apparel climbed 17.4%, and accessories improved 7.9%.

At the 2006 year-end, orders on hand increased for the eleventh consecutive time. Like-for-like, orders rose 10.2% on a comparative basis, or by 4.7% in terms of euros, to reach €1,119.7 million compared with €1,069.1 million in the previous year.

In terms of segments, currency adjusted orders for footwear increased 6.1% to €716.8 million, apparel orders climbed 20.3% to €340.2 million, and accessories rose by 9% to €62.7 million.
