UK-based technology centre SATRA has installed a fourth slip rig in its new footwear laboratory at its Wyndham Way headquarters in Kettering, UK.
The organisation now has four specially designed SATRA STM 603 rigs for evaluating all types of footwear solings from children's shoes to industrial footwear. It can also test footwear on many types of flooring surface including ceramic tiles, wood, carpet, concrete, GRP resin and ice.

The latest UK figures show that 37% of all reported major accidents at work are slip-related. The cost, in terms of absence and lost productivity, amounts to more than £800 million a year.
