Dow CEO named chairman of American Chemistry Council

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) recently elected chairman and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company, Andrew Liveris, as its new chairman of the board.

Commenting on Mr Liveris’ election, ACC president and CEO, Jack Gerard, said, “American chemistry is the enabler of modern life in all capacities, from advanced medical technologies to clean drinking water. Andrew’s chairmanship marks an era of vision at ACC; our new leadership is in place and composed of individuals who are already the driving force behind this nation’s finest companies. Now, we are entrusting Andrew and all of our leaders with the mission of guiding our essential industry into the coming century.”

The US chemicals business is a $550 billion enterprise and a key element of the nation's economy. It is one of the nation’s largest exporters, accounting for ten cents out of every dollar in US exports.
