Rayonier names new president and CEO

US-based forest products and performance fibre producer Rayonier has appointed Lee Thomas as president and CEO, effective March 1. A member of Rayonier's board of directors since June 2006, Mr Thomas was president and chief operating officer of Georgia-Pacific Corp. from 2002 until his retirement at the end of 2005, following the company’s acquisition by Koch Industries. Prior to Georgia-Pacific, he was chairman and CEO of Law Companies Environmental Group Inc. from 1989-1993 and administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency from 1985-1989.

Mr Thomas succeeds Lee Nutter, who had previously announced his plans to retire.
