Reebok celebrates 25th anniversary of the Freestyle

Having enjoyed huge success following its launch in the 1980s, Reebok’s Freestyle women’s athletic shoe is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Having remained one of the brand’s best selling shoes, the company marked the occasion with the launch of a new 25th anniversary Freestyle collection at a "Freestyle Forever" event held in New York on March 1.

As well as debuting a new 25 Candles Freestyle design, the 2007 collection also features six limited-edition styles varying from authentic ‘bringbacks’ to modern-day artist collaborations.

Commenting on the Freestyle’s success, Reebok's chief marketing officer, Uli Becker, said, "Reebok is passionate about debuting the 25th Anniversary Freestyle Collection because the shoe represents our history as the brand that pioneered the women's fitness movement and started the high-top fashion trend."    One of the first athletic shoes created especially for women, the Freestyle made up more than half of Reebok’s sales in 1984.
