RIL and Rohm and Haas plan Indian acrylic monomer complex

23/03/2007

US chemical firm Rohm and Haas Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian private sector company Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) to explore the joint construction of an acrylic monomer complex in Jamnagar, India.

The proposed facility would have the capacity to produce approximately 200,000 tons of acrylic acid and its esters annually. While the key objective would be to serve domestic market needs, the complex could also export acrylic acid and derivatives.

Materials from the facility are intended to serve as building blocks for environmentally-advanced products such as textile and construction materials and packaging adhesives.
