Saurer acquisition boosts Oerlikon’s results

Switzerland-based technology company Oerlikon has reported higher sales in 2006, boosted by the acquisition of manufacturer of spinning, texturising, twisting and embroidery systems Saurer.

Sales increased 42.7% from CHF1.6 billion ($1.3 billion) to CHF 2.3 billion, including Saurer sales for November and December (excluding Saurer, sales rose 5.8% to CHF1.7 billion). Orders received were up 80.9% to CHF2.6 billion (excluding Saurer, orders were up 42.9% to CHF2.1 billion).

Saurer tripled the company’s business volume and staff numbers and the group is now active at 170 sites in 35 countries.
