The Lenzing Group’s new viscose fibre plant in Nanjing—part of a joint venture with Nanjing Chemical Fibre Co., Ltd (NCFC)—is now operational. This is the second viscose fibre plant the company has opened in Asia and the sixth production site for the fibre globally. The company now produces 560,000 tons of cellulose fibres per annum.

Austria-based Lenzing holds a share of 70% of the facility, with NCFC holding the remaining 30%. The capacity of the new plant is 60,000 tons although expansion is scheduled in alignment with market development. Investment in the facility was approximately €65 million.
