Lenzing plans new viscose plant in India

Having opened its second viscose fibre plant in Asia last week, in China, Austrian producer of man-made cellulose fibres The Lenzing Group has announced plans to build a third such plant in Maharashtra State, south of Mumbai, India.

The new plant, which will be established in co-operation with the Indian Modi Group, will employ 700 to 800 staff and will have an initial production capacity of 80,000 tons. Production is scheduled to start in 2010/11, after a construction period of two years.
