Australian wool merger approved

The Australian Federal Agriculture Minister, Peter McGauran, and the Federal Government, have approved the proposed merger of Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) with Australian Wool Services (AWS).
Welcoming the decision chairman of AWI, Ian McLachlan, said, “With significant cooperation between the two companies, the Federal Government has accepted our proposal and has been persuaded to fix the matter earlier rather than later, and is to be commended for that.“ He added, “This is one of the most important announcements in the history of the wool industry, providing clarity for our international customers and all Australian woolgrowers.”
