BSI installs new high impact eyewear and helmet testing rig

25/04/2007

The British Standards Institution (BSI) Product Services has designed and installed a new, bespoke testing rig to be used for high impact testing of protective eyewear and a range of helmets.

The new rig will enable BSI to impact test eye protectors and visors in a range between 12 m/s-1 to 190 m/s-1. It will also allow BSI to accommodate the testing of products such as the new style ‘tall’ helmets that incorporate ventilation and cooling components and squash goggles.

The British Standards Institution is an independent, non-governmental body established more than 100 years ago. It currently operates in over 100 counties.
