Buckeye posts encouraging Q1 results
US-based manufacturer of specialty fibres and nonwoven materials Buckeye Technologies Inc. has reported revenues of $6.6 million for its first quarter ended March 31. This included costs of $0.8 million in restructuring expenses. In the prior year quarter the company sustained a loss of $0.8 million, which included $1.1 million in restructuring and impairment expenses associated with the closure of the Glueckstadt cotton linter pulp plant in December 2005.
Net sales for the first quarter were $193 million, 6% higher than the $181 million posted in the corresponding 2006 quarter. Net sales for the first nine months of 2007 were $569 million, also 6% higher than net sales of $535 million for the same period last year.
