The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has urged the US Department of Commerce not to impose anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese textile and apparel products unless warranted by a specific set of facts and supported by US domestic apparel producers.

AAFA executive vice president Stephen Lamar said that action should only be taken in cases where there is dumping of a particular product from Vietnam, that US domestic production of that same product is being harmed by that dumping, or that US domestic producers of that same product supported initiation of an investigation by the US government.
