BASF increases prices for nylon 6 polymer

02/05/2007

German chemicals company BASF has increased prices for its nylon 6 polymer by $0.08 per pound, or as contracts allow, effective May 1. The rise covers nylon polymer for spinning, film, wire/cable and compounding applications.

According to Mark Dobson, business director of the company’s Polyamide and Intermediates business in North America, the increase is the result of “continued volatility of raw material and energy costs, and the increasing challenges of transportation availability and costs.”
