CPI Index for sporting goods remains negative
The US Consumer Price Index (CPI) for sporting goods for April remained in the negative range of 1-2% that has been seen for several months.
April data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics placed the sporting goods index at 97.7, a 1.6% decrease versus the April 2006 index. The March index had shown a 0.7% decrease, the February index, a 1.8% decrease, and the January index, a 1.5% decrease.
For 2006, the sporting goods CPI averaged a 1.3% decline. For 2005, the decline averaged 1.1%; for 2004, 1.2%; for 2003, 0.8%; and for 2002, 2.6%.
