DuPont launches new renewably sourced polymer line

DuPont has launched a new patented, high performance polyols (polyetherdiols) polymer family, DuPont Cerenol, which is made from 100% renewable resources. The product line joins DuPont Sorona as the newest polymer family made with corn instead of petroleum.

Cerenol is said to enhance the performance of a diverse portfolio of end-use products including running shoes and ski boots, and spandex fibre applications and can replace petroleum-based ingredients or finished products without compromising functionality.

"Since customers want environmentally smart options that do not compromise performance, we are pleased to now offer both Sorona and Cerenoltwo high performance polymers that are engineered to meet or exceed the performance of their petroleum-based counterparts," said Bio-Based Materials vice president and general manager Peter Hemken.
