Performance Fibers further expands polyester yarn facilities

In response to customer demand, US-based producer of polyester fibres and materials Performance Fibers will expand polyester yarn production in Germany for the second time since acquiring the business last year.

The company said it will invest in spinning machines in early 2008 at its Bad Hersfeld plant to increase capacity of tie-yarn for weft-insertion fabrics by 30%.

The planned expansion follows a multi-million dollar investment in modernised draw winder machinery to be completed in July that expands capacity for low-denier industrial (LDI) yarn by more than 10%. These yarns are used in sewing, embroidery, outdoor fabric, awnings, banners, outdoor signs, flags, technical textiles and apparel.

“These two recent investments keep our state-of-the-art facility in Bad Hersfeld competitive and meet our customers’ needs for these specialised yarns,” said Greg Rogowski, president and CEO.
