US-based branded apparel, footwear and accessories company Jones Apparel Group, Inc. has promoted Jay Friedman to president, Company-Owned Retail Footwear and Apparel, with immediate effect. He will report to Andrew Cohen, chief executive officer, Wholesale Footwear and Accessories.

Mr Friedman joined the company in April 2006 as president and has more than 36 years experience in the footwear and apparel industry. Companies he has worked for prior to joining the group include Aigner Group Inc. and Foot Locker.
