US army chooses Lenzing FR
The American Army has substituted its old uniforms, usually made from cotton and nylon, for new uniforms incorporating Lenzing FR fibres. Benefits offered by the fibre, which are extracted from beech wood, are said to include protection from sources of heat, inherent flame resistance which does not wash out and good dyeability. The fibre is also breathable and has advanced moisture transportation properties, making it more comfortable to wear.
