Formosa Taffeta performs second bluesign screening

28/06/2007

Taiwan-based fabric and yarn producer Formosa Taffeta Co., Ltd. recently underwent a second bluesign screening. It was the first company in Asia to perform a bluesign screening having first brought its first ‘bluesign approved fabric’ products to market in 2001.

The aim of the second screening was to extend its approved product range items made from cotton and laminated and coated fabrics to its approved polyester and polyamide products.

The bluesign screening includes a detailed on-site evaluation of the environment, resource and workplace situation of the textile manufacturing sites according to the five principles of the bluesign standard: productivity, consumer safety, air emission, water emission and occupational health and safety. All chemicals, dyestuffs and auxiliaries used are checked on-site. At the re-screening, bluesign technologies AG said the EHS conditions were excellent, particularly its waste water treatment, which was described as “state-of-the-art".
