AAFA to release restricted substances list

29/06/2007

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) unveiled its inaugural restricted substances list (RSL), covering home textiles, apparel and footwear to more than 100 industry experts and compliance professionals at the AAFA Environmental Issues Seminar on June 27. The list, with an introductory guide, will be available to the public at the AAFA website from July 9.

Developed with the support of AAFA’s RSL Task Force and reviewed by a Peer Review group, the list currently covers chemicals and other substances whose presence in a product is restricted through a government regulation or law.  Future versions are expected to include chemicals and substances whose presence, while not regulated by a government authority, are still restricted in practice.
