As a result of growing demand for neopentylglycol (NPG), mainly in coatings applications, BASF JCIC Neopentylglycol Col, Ltd—a 60/40 joint venture company of BASF and Jilin Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd—is to expand capacity at its Jilin, China, plant by 10,000 metric tons. This increase, combined with the previously announced capacity expansion in Ludwigshafen, Germany, will increase BASF’s global annual NPG capacity to 165,000 metric tons by the end of 2007.
